![]() Personally I ended up liking Prisoner just as much as Midnight Sky, Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa have great vocal chemistry and I love how they trade off each other throughout the song. That second single was Prisoner which featured guest vocals from Dua Lipa and is anyone has been following my blog at all this year you’d know I’m a pretty big fan of Dua Lipa so I was interested to see what the two artists would sound like together on a song. However Miley also has stated the song is also about her taking control over her identity from a lifetime of having her image decided for her and again I think that does come through both in the lyrics and vocal performance.Īfter Midnight Sky caught my attention for the project when the second single was released I had to check it out to see if Miley would continue down the same path. While I don’t often try to speculate about an artists personal life it’s not hard to figure out this song is likely drawing influences from Miley’s recent divorce. Also the defiant lyrics about discovering freedom and embracing the uncertainty of a single life. ![]() From her soaring vocals, to the incredibly tight bass line, to the shimmering guitars, to the 80’s disco production the song is fantastic. I actually already covered this back in my August Wrap Up but to summarise my feelings on the song I think it’s one of Miley’s best to date. The first single for this project ended up being Midnight Sky which was released in August. Instead she scrapped that plan and began working on a new album. Initially Miley Cyrus was planning to release a series of EPs however the only on of the planned projects that was released was She Is Coming, a project that, while not awful, wasn’t exactly great either. A hope that seems to finally have happened with Miley’s latest outing Plastic Hearts a full on dive 80’s hair metal and hard rock. Personally I always felt Miley really had a good voice for hard rock and the songs by her I like tend to have more of a rock edge and I was always kind of hoping she’d made a full on rock album. I also like that Miley has always embraced experimenting with other genres as she’s often mixed pop, hip-hop, electronica, psychedelia, rock, metal and country. I do appreciate that she’s just seemed to follow her instincts to wherever they take her and whether good or bad she’s never been boring. So personally speaking Miley Cyrus has always been an artist that has left me very conflicted, while she’s made some music I actually like quite a bit she’s also made plenty of music that really doesn’t click with me for various reasons. Here are the most iconic lyrics on the album for singing into your hairbrush like its 2006.After years of managing to work in a few elements of rock here and there into her music Miley Cyrus fully embraces her love of 80’s rock on her latest release Plastic Hearts… While there are moments of vulnerability on Plastic Hearts, its Miley’s fiercely unapologetic “this is who I am” attitude that shines through. Featuring collaborations with Billy Idol and Stevie Nicks, Plastic Hearts – released on Novemvia RCA Records – is Miley’s seventh and most rock and roll album to date.įrom her Hannah Montana days to rocking out with her Dad on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, Miley is a multi-dimensional, fluid superstar who refuses to be defined as one thing. Miley Cyrus has spoken openly and in-depth about the emotion-packed lyrics on her latest studio album, Plastic Hearts.
